KOA LAGOON

So this project was interesting and sadly I don't have any before staging photos. It started out as just a staging job in a condo on the beach. The condo was very dated and I had to use pretty much what I had available although there was a budget to buy some decorative items (bed linens, accessories etc) and we managed to accumulate some furniture. I had the upper cabinets separating the kitchen and dining room taken out to bring more light in the dark and dreary kitchen and the dark brown old cabinets painted white. (this would only marginally help as we still had to keep the very old original appliances, old cabinets and counter tops) not to mention the bright blue tile backsplash.

Just a bit of staging detail for your enjoyment.  : )

So that was fun, right?

Well the good news is that the condo sold immediately and the new owners kept me on to help with the decorating. They hired Michelle Turner, an interior designer on Maui to handle the gut rehab and design. She did an amazing job in transforming this condo into a luxury vacation rental. Meanwhile as things were finishing up with Michelle, I worked closely with the owners to help with the soft furnishings and accessories as well as choosing the paint color. This is the result.

Hard to believe this is the same place.

We are offering our services this year to be your little elves and to help transform your condo/home into a tropical holiday wonderland. We'd like to hear your thoughts and ideas or offer our creative expertise.

I have been in the design business for many years and one of my favorite things to do is decorate for Christmas. Together with my husband, we have worked on private homes, high end department stores and malls in and around the Chicago area. I would enjoy nothing more than to be able to carry on this tradition here on Maui!

Here are a few photos of some holiday decorating we've done!

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

It's about time right!

Aloha friends,
I'm not the most tech savvy person in the world as my husband would attest to with great frustration but I figure it's time to be more proactive with my blog so here goes....

I'm happy to say I've been really busy this year with design and staging projects (thanks to Lydia Pedro and Alana Rucynski Realtors extraordinaire) My last job in 2015 turned into my first job in 2016 as I finished up an exciting interior design project in Kapalua Ridge.

I had the challenge of designing the entire first floor almost from scratch. We pulled out the entire kitchen including the drop ceiling added all new cabinets, appliances, backsplash and countertop. Here are the before and after photos.

We found a beautiful wood look tile for the entire first floor that ran out to the lanai.

One of the rooms that I'm particularly please with was the master bath on the first floor. The rainforest marble shower turned out amazing.

So here was one the the biggest challenges, the owner didn't want the television to be a focus in the living room so I had to figure out a place for a television that wouldn't stand out and figure out where to put it. So sitting down with paper and pen (yes I know old fashioned) I scribbled many potential ideas that I hoped would work and finally landed on this beauty. (if I do say so myself)

Now you see it!

Now you don't!

I designed this piece myself and worked with the incredibly talented wood workers at Pacific Millworks to build this cabinet from Monkey Pod and Wenge. A live edge dining table tied the living and dining spaces together nicely. This piece was made from the same materials and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

(yep that's me and the owner sitting on the lanai enjoying a cocktail and the view, as you do, while my incredibly talented husband runs around taking all the photos. I'm a lucky gal!

I love the rustic dining room chandelier that the owner picked out.

Check out these views!!!

One more challenge!
The master (guest) bedroom on the main floor had to be somewhat flexible to accommodate two men (for those golfing holidays) or a couple so I had to figure out a way to create this versatility. My solution was to make a padded headboard that was bolted to the wall (like many hotel rooms) rather than use two beds with headboards I used two XL twin beds on bed frames that can be separated. There are two nightstand that can be used on either side of the bed(s) or in between when the beds are separated (sorry no photo of that) (thanks Vanessa at Island Attitudes)

Here are a few additional photos from this design project. The owners who are huge supporters of local artists wanted to choose their own artwork and accessories over time.

Enjoy!!!

After!
